Introducing Slidejoy Home

Slidejoy’s mission is to make advertising interesting through efficient products, sleek design and superior value for consumers. That is why we are proud to announce our latest feature: Slidejoy Home.

What is Slidejoy Home?
Slidejoy Home streamlines the process of accessing your phone by combining two major reasons you check your phone in the first place – Notifications and Favorite Apps. We’ve retained the same functionality that you love about Slidejoy, but you can now slide DOWN to display your notifications as well as shortcuts for up to 15 of your favorite apps.

account-before-after

How it Works
1-Slide DOWN from the first Slidejoy screen when you turn on your phone

2a-Tap any Notifications you’d like to check

2b-Tap any app in your Favorite Apps section to open it. By using the two icons to the right of the “App Favorites” text, you can personalize up to 15 apps and arrange them in your desired order

3-Smile because you can access your phone much more quickly WHILE being rewarded

Note: You can still slide RIGHT, LEFT and UP as usual

Will this affect my rewards?
Nope, this is just a more convenient way to use your phone, courtesy of your beloved Slidejoy Team :)

We are constantly working on new ways of improving Slidejoy for users like you so we hope you enjoy Slidejoy Home. If you have suggestions for any other features, feel free to send us a message on our Facebook Page (and don’t forget to Like us!).

What Happened to Google Play Gift Cards on Slidejoy?!

As many of you have noticed, we recently discontinued offering Google Play Gift Cards as a redemption option. We’re really sorry that it upset some of you, and we’d like to offer an explanation as to why we made this decision.

Why We Offered Google Play Gift Cards in the First Place
We initially offered Google Play cards as a redemption option so that users without a Paypal or Square Cash account would have an opportunity to redeem their rewards without paying a transaction fee. Although we had good intentions, the process of providing Google Play cards to you, our users, became a very laborious and time-consuming process.

account-before-after
Our CEO literally swimming in a sea of Google Play Gift Cards

The Problem
In order to bring you Google Play Gift Cards, our small team of five has had to visit dozens of physical stores (Walgreens, CVS, Gamestop, etc.), scratch every single card, manually enter each 20 digit code and send out each code to users. We have contacted Google directly multiple times to find a way to automate this process, but we haven’t found a way to do so without our users incurring any transaction fees.

As our user base continued to grow, this process started to consume so much of our time that we were unable to focus on improving our app. The problem is that without improving our app, we will not be able to attract more advertisers, and without attracting more advertisers, we will not be able to increase the rewards we provide.

The Peace Offering
So here’s what we are going to do for the next month (July 4th). We will let users redeem Google Play cards until July 4th 2015 11:59 PM EST. All users should be able to see Google Play card redemption options in the “Exchange” tab within our app. On July 5th 2015, we will remove all Google Play card options, so please make sure you redeem your Carats by then.

Please note that this offer is only available for the next month and in the future, we ask that you use the existing redemption offers (that now include 12 new gift card options like Amazon, Xbox Live, AMC, Target, Papa Johns, Sephora, etc.).

What We Promise For the Future
We are very sad to remove the Google Play card redemption option, and we apologize for this change. However, we will continue to monitor changes in Google play card policies, and once they offer electronic versions of their cards, we will definitely add them to our redemption options going forward.

Again, we are very sorry for any inconvenience and we hope you understand why we had to make this change. Thank you for being a Slidejoy user. You’re awesome!

Love,
Team Slidejoy

How Often Do We Check Our Phones Each Day?

How often you check your phone each day? The answer to the question is, well, it depends. In order to bring you daily smartphone unlock statistics, our data scientists have parsed the data from over 100 million impressions (and the same number of smiles?).

An unlock is counted when a user opens her phone and slides to the right or left on Slidejoy’s lock screen  to gain access to her phone’s functions. For example, I would like to send a text to my mother who is worried about me, so I open my phone, slide to the right and proceed to call my mother. For more information on how Slidejoy works, check out our website.

Disclaimer: The commentary below is from our CEO, Rob. Feel free to disregard it completely (the rest of us usually do).

This proves that the younger generation is lazy and has too much time on its hands. They have nothing better to do all day than to snappitychat or whatever kids call it these days.

There are only two interpretations (with no in between).

1 – Men are more productive members of society because they are likely using their extra unlocks for purposes like texting their boss to see how many sugar packets she wants with her coffee.

2 – Men are good for nothing because they are probably spending way too much time sending Yo’s to each other or playing games when they should be productive members of society.

Female teens are probably unlocking their phones more to chat with each other about their fave new lip gloss, take selfies to show off their new lip gloss and/or take pictures of their food that will likely smear said lip gloss.

This clearly depicts the evolution of relationships from the “No, I miss you more’s” while ‘In a Relationship’ to the “I’m not going to bother checking to see if your stomach is ok because your farts kept me awake all night’s” while ‘Married.’

It’s true, college-educated folks are the unproductive ugly middle step-children to its less and more educated siblings.

Mondays and Wednesdays are the days that work/study gets done. Fridays are for planning weekends and Thursday’s dream of becoming the new Friday has gained some steam.

We check our phones between 19 to 55 times a day depending on who you are. If you’re a marketer and you’d like some keen insights into how to use these data for your next mobile marketing campaign, then email us and our data scientists will be happy to help you do so thoughtfully.

Battle of the Sexes: Who Checks Their Phones More Often?

Welcome to our inaugural blog entry! This blog will share interesting insights from our sophisticated analytics platform that our data scientists have built. In order to bring you the following data, our data scientists have parsed the data from over 100 million impressions (and the same number of smiles?) on our users’ lock screens since we launched earlier this February.

We’ve broken down our commentary to represent what a man and a woman would say in each type of relationship. Please note that we’re assuming all these relationships are heterosexual (for better or for worse) since we’re not able to determine otherwise. Enjoy!

Single
He Said: Bros, keg stand, fist-bump, gym, repeat

She Said: My girls, wine and sangria, girls-only dance circle, gym, cat memes

In a Relationship
He Said: She’s not like anybody else I’ve ever dated. But she hasn’t responded to my last text. Should I send her another one…? Oh god, I just sent her three unanswered texts.

She Said: I really like this guy, but I wish he’d stop being so needy. Doesn’t he have anything better to do than to smother me? *Eyeroll, hairflip, smile to herself*

Engaged
He Said: Why can’t she return my calls? Doesn’t she realize our wedding is only 3 months away?! I should’ve seen this coming before I liquidated my Ferrari fund.

She Said: When did he become such a spaz? Caterers, shmaterers, he needs to recognize I got weight to lose and nails to get did.

Married
He Said: Work, bills, nagging, Netflix, kids(?), repeat

She Said: Why doesn’t he text or call me like he used to? What’s a girl gotta do to get a little romance around here?

It’s Complicated
He Said: I met her one time at a party and now she tells me her mom knows my middle name and her grandparents can’t wait for me to go over for Uncle Jim’s cat’s bar mitzvah.

She Said: OMG, did he receive my last text? Did I have bad reception when I sent it? Does he have bad reception? Is he stuck in an elevator? Does he not like me? Is he with another girl? Call me, maybe?

Conclusions
Contrary to popular belief, men care more than women about their relationships than women do (ok, there may be other factors involved, but just roll with it). However, the amount they care decreases as the relationship progresses and becomes more serious.

Ladies, if you want to keep your man in check, keep him at arms-length for as long as possible.

Gents, what can I say, keep it complicated for best results.
